Our Story

Vision
Our vision is for every Black Woman Entrepreneur to have the financial, community, and self-care resources she needs to succeed.

Mission
Our mission is to build a national mutually supportive Black Woman entrepreneurship community that connects Black Women to valuable resources and business opportunities on and offline outside of their intimate networks.

Our Story
In 2016, 8 Black Women entrepreneurs came together in Oakland, California during a particularly tragic summer with the national murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by police officers. We were exhausted by these realities and run down at max capacity as Black Women Entrepreneurs always hustling on our own. Entrepreneurship provided us freedom from the 9 - 5, but isolation from community, as we often did not have time to connect with each other. We discovered that this isolation was not just unique to us, but that nationally 97.5% of Black Women Entrepreneurs did not have a single employee and were majority sole proprietors. We were solopreneurs burning ourselves out with limited resources. We reflected on how we could leverage our skills as entrepreneurs to make social social change. Enough was enough. We could not keep hustling in isolation. We decided to focus our efforts on building a space for Black Women Entrepreneurs to come together to love on each other, honor each others’ struggles and successes, share knowledge, and help each other grow. Since 2016 we have engaged over 500+ Black Women Entrepreneurs in the bay area and beyond. We launched our membership this year - connecting Black Women to business plan training programs, funding opportunities, and clients. Most importantly we have worked deeply to empower each other to keep going even when it seems like there is no light on the other side.

Our motto is that we Level Up Together. We believe deeply in our core value of abundance. There is plenty of money and resources to solve the worlds most biggest problems. We just have to shift our business thinking away from competition and toward collaboration. We are all in this together. #Ashe
